On 24 January 1992 the newspaper reported: 'The large gable stone with the inscription 'De Nieuwe Limburger', which has adorned the paper's Havenstraat premises for decades, has been taken down and will be given a place in the new building of the newspaper in Randwyck'.
The accompanying photograph showed how the stone was cut loose from the building between Wolfstraat and Havenstraat, where the Nieuwe Limburger used to be compiled and printed.
The stone from 1964 by Wim Klabbers was not moved after all and was reinstalled in the new residential/commercial complex in Havenstraat. The representation on the stone consists of the coat of arms of the province of Limburg, which is flanked on the left by rolls of newsprint in the printing press and on the right by a stack of newspapers.
